Block Segment

A section of track, delimited by two block sections, on which only one train can run at a time.

Block Section

A piece of track - either Block Brakes, the front of a station platform or the crest of a lift hill. Used for setting up block segments.

Lift Hill

The upward section of track set to use a chain. Usually found at the beginning of a ride, the chain pulls the train up the hill, giving it the required gravitational potential energy to complete the circuit

Mid-course Brakes

Found between the lift hill and the brake run, usually half way between. If only standard brakes are used, the purpose is to slow down the train, perhaps to reduce intensity. If block brakes are included, then the purpose is to enable more than one train to operate on the track safely.
